Michael Burda studied at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA and received his PhD there in 1987. His research, which most often lies on the boundaries between labor and macroeconomics, has appeared in the American Economic Review, the European Economic Review, the Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Brookings Papers on Economic Activity, and others. With Charles Wyplosz, he is the author of Macroeconomics: A European Text, now in its fifth edition and translated into 13 languages. In 1998 he was awarded the Gossen Prize of the Verein für Sozialpolitik.
