BSE RAP - Call for Applications 2023

The following seven institutions cooperate in the Research Associate Program of the Berlin School of Economics (BSE RAP) to promote the careers of junior researchers: the School of Business and Economics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the School of Business and Economics at Freie Universität Berlin, the School of Economics and Management at Technische Universität Berlin, the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam, the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, the European School of Management and Technology Berlin and the Hertie School.

The BSE invites applications for several Research Associate positions for fixed-term appointments for a maximum of 6 years, according to German WissZeitVG - E 13 TV-L HU/TU/FU/UP or E 14 TVöD. Positions are available at University of Potsdam, WZB Berlin Social Science Center and ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin Institute for the Economy and the Future of Work (RFBerlin).

Excellent researchers from the following fields are invited to apply: applied microeconomics, labor economics, health economics, economics of education, behavioral economics. Each of the positions will be hosted and administered by one of the seven BSE institutions.

Duties: Successful candidates will contribute part of their time to research and teaching in economics at the Bachelor, Master or PhD levels, as well as to furthering their own research agenda.

Requirements: Applicants should hold a PhD in economics or a neighboring discipline at the position starting date, and should have excellent qualifications as well as outstanding own research.

Applicants are required to nominate two references who are willing to provide a letter of recommendation. Nominated references will be contacted by the BSE and will be asked to uploaded their letter in the BSE application portal.

The Chairs of Empirical Economics (Prof. Marco Caliendo) and Economic Policy (Prof. Thomas Siedler) at the University of Potsdam are looking for two Postdoctoral Fellows to join the team in the fall of 2023. Applicants ideally have excellent knowledge in applied microeconometrics and a strong interest in empirical / labour / health / education economics. The position offers an attractive research environment and a very dynamic and cooperative team atmosphere. The postdoc can freely choose her/his research focus and will be a member of the Center for Economic Policy Analysis (CEPA). Researchers with experience in policy evaluation, experimental methods and/or machine learning methods are particularly encouraged to apply.

Teaching obligations amount to 3 hours per week (4 SWS), for example in undergraduate and graduate level statistics and econometrics or applied topics (policy evaluation).

The WZB Research Area 'Markets & Choice' offers a position for a postdoctoral research associate in the summer/fall of 2023 to join the group of behavioral economists at the Berlin Social Science Center. Strong researchers with a background in applied micro and/ or experimental economics and a research focus on behavioral economics are encouraged to apply.

The WZB is a publicly funded research institution within the German Leibniz association.

The academic research conducted at the WZB in the social sciences is theory-based and problem-oriented. The position at the WZB implies freedom from teaching obligations, strong administrative support for your projects, your own grant proposals and workshop organization, access to the WZB-TU economics lab as well as many opportunities to interact with academic peers.

Current research topics of the group include competition & cooperation; bounded rationality and social preferences; pro-social behavior; motivated beliefs, mental models and narratives; values, norms and cultural capital in democracies.
