On November 4, 2025,  Professor Claudia Goldin, Henry Lee Professor of Economics at Harvard University, will deliver a public lecture titled "Why Women Won".

This significant event is a collaborative effort between the ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin, the School of Business and Economics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the BSoE.

Professor Goldin's status as a Nobel Laureate is a testament to her profound impact on economics. Her pioneering research on women's labor, which involved "detective work" through centuries of historical data, fundamentally changed our understanding of the gender pay gap. Her work has influenced a new generation of researchers and provides crucial insights for policymakers today.

In her upcoming lecture, she will explore the profound transformation from a time when routine legal discrimination against women was commonplace to a world where they have achieved unprecedented economic agency. The discussion will cover the economic and social forces that enabled this shift. Following the lecture, a Q&A session will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to engage directly with her.
