Lushanya Dayathilake is pursuing her PhD in Economics, focusing on carbon pricing and sustainable finance in South Asia. Her research primarily examines the implementation of domestic carbon pricing mechanisms, such as carbon taxes, and their alignment with the unique economic challenges of the region.
Prior to her PhD, Lushanya served as a Research Assistant at the Greenhouse Gas Removals Hub, University of Oxford. In this role, she assessed both current and emerging carbon dioxide removal technologies globally and co-authored the second edition of the "State of CO2 Removals". Additionally, she collaborated with an expert panel to review various greenhouse gas removal methodologies demonstrated across the UK.
Lushanya also has experience as a Climate Consultant at Environmental Resources Management (ERM) UK, where she supported companies in developing strategies for achieving net-zero emissions.
She holds an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
