Berlin School of Economics RAP - Call for Applications 2026

The following nine institutions cooperate in the Research Associates Program of the Berlin School of Economics (BSoE RAP) to promote the careers of junior researchers: the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), the School of Business and Economics at Freie Universität Berlin, the School of Business and Economics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the School of Economics and Management at Technische Universität Berlin, the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam, ESMT Berlin, the Hertie School, ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin Institute for the Economy and the Future of Work (RFBerlin) and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. 

The Berlin School of Economics invites applications for several Research Associate positions for fixed-term appointments between 3 to 6 years, according to German WissZeitVG - E 13 TV-L HU/TU/FU/UP or E 14 TVöD.

Excellent researchers from the following fields are invited to apply: macroeconomics, applied microeconomics, experimental economics, behavioral economics, labor economics, economics of education and media economics.

Each of the positions will be hosted and administered by one of the nine Berlin School of Economics institutions.

Duties: Successful candidates will contribute part of their time to research and teaching in economics at the Bachelor, Master or PhD levels, as well as to furthering their own research agenda.

Requirements: Applicants should hold a PhD in economics or a neighboring discipline at the position starting date, and should have excellent qualifications as well as outstanding own research.

Nominated references will be contacted by the Berlin School of Economics and will be asked to uploaded their letter in the Berlin School of Economics application portal.

The WZB Research Area 'Markets & Choice' (MC) is looking to fill 3 openings for postdoctoral research associates in the summer/fall of 2026 to join the group of economists at the WZB Social Science Center Berlin and the MPIB. Strong post-doctoral researchers interested in doing cutting edge research with a background in applied micro- and/ or experimental economics and micro-econometrics and a research focus on behavioral economics, market design, media economics or digitalization/AI are encouraged to apply to one of the following:

  1. For the Research unit ‘Market Behavior’ (head: Dorothea Kübler), we are searching for a behavioral economist working on theory and/or experiments, especially in the field of matching markets, education, and labor (3-6 years). (Link to the website/postdoc position description tba)
     
  2. The Research group ‘Inequality, Social Mobility and Growth’ (head: Nicola Fuchs-Schündeln), and the interdisciplinary group at the ‘Center for Humans and Machines’ (CHM, head: Iyad Rahwan) at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development (MPIB) in Berlin are jointly looking for a postdoctoral researcher with strong microeconometric skills and experience working with observational data and quasi-experimental designs to investigate the economic, social, and cultural effects of artificial intelligence, especially addressing questions in labor economics or cultural evolution, and in how AI influences markets, social norms, and human behavior.   3. For the ‘Information, Incentives, and Inequality group’ (head: Maja Adena) we are offering a postdoctoral position (3 years) funded by two DFG-funded projects: "Responsible Citizenship in a Digitalized World—Field Experiments with a News App" and "(Mis)Trust in Science: Roots, Mechanisms, Consequences, and Remedies." The ideal candidate will have a research background in media economics and applied microeconomics and/or experimental economics, experience in conducting experiments and/or big data analysis, and a good command of German. The WZB is a publicly funded research institution within the Leibniz Association. The scientific research conducted at the WZB in the field of social sciences is theory-driven and problem-oriented. The position at the WZB includes freedom from teaching obligations, strong administrative support for projects, grant applications and the organisation of workshops, access to the WZB-TU Economic Laboratory, and numerous opportunities for exchange with academic colleagues.
