On October 4, 2022, the Berlin School of Economics celebrated a welcome event for the new cohort of doctoral students and research associates at the School of Business and Economics at Freie Universität Berlin.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by the President of Freie Universität, Prof. Dr. Günter M. Ziegler, and by the BSE Speaker, Prof. Dr. Roland Strausz (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin). The Executive Vice President of Freie Universität, Prof. Dr. Verena Blechinger-Talcott, also attended the event.

Her presentation covered key insights from the latest research and from her award-winning book.
Among the more than 150 guests were professorial BSE members from the various universities and research institutions, doctoral students and research associates (post-docs and junior professors) from the BSE institutions and further members of the School of Business and Economics of Freie Universität Berlin.
Also present were more than 60 national and international scientists who took part in the "2nd Berlin Workshop on Empirical Public Economics: Gender Economics". This international workshop presented new and promising research in field of gender economics by young and senior economists. It took place at the School of Business and Economics, Freie Universität Berlin, on October 4th/5th, 2022.
