Nikolaus Wolf received his Doctoral Degree from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. After positions at the London School of Economics, Free University Berlin, Pompeu Fabra, and the University of Warwick, he joined Humboldt-University in 2010. His main research interests are Economic History, International Trade, Economic Geography and Historical Macroeconomics. His research was published in Econometrica, the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of Economic History, European Review of Economic History, Explorations in Economic History and others. In 2012-2016 he was chairman of the Comittee of Economic History (Wirtschaftshistorischer Ausschuss) within the German Economic Association (Verein für Socialpolitik). In 2015-19 he was editor in chief of the European Review of Economic History. He serves on the editorial board of several journals and in the advisory board of several institutions (eg The Productivity Institute Manchester, or CEPH Dublin). He is also a Research Fellow at CEPR and CESifo.
