Raji Jayaraman joined ESMT in 2007. Prior to that, she taught at the University of Munich. She received her PhD in economics from Cornell University in 2001. Her research lies at the intersection of development and labor economics, with a focus on how workers and students respond to incentives. Her empirical work relies on both quasi-experimental techniques and field experiments. She is currently working on a series of research projects related to the socio-economic integration of refugees in Germany. She has published in leading peer-reviewed journals including the American Economic Review and the Journal of Political Economy.
